Christmas can be a time of joy and excitement, but it can also be a hard time. We remember the Christmas story, the characters, and the attributes demonstrated (hope, faith, joy, peace, love). But we don’t simply remember; we aim to embrace those same attributes and embed them in our own lives. We celebrate the birth of Jesus as we also wait for the “not yet.”
Sunday, December 24, at 10:30 AM and 5 PM.
Both services will be the same, with the exception of a children’s choir at 10:30 AM service only. Join us for an hour-long service including traditional Christmas songs, a brief message, and ending with a candlelight song. There will be no children or student ministry activities. We encourage you to worship together as a family.
Christmas might bring up memories of baking cookies, decorating the tree, caroling, or lighting candles at Christmas Eve services. For some of us, Christmas also means rewatching our favorite Christmas movie for the 58th time! Join us for a showing of The Muppet Christmas Carol and free movie snacks on December 8 at 6:30 PM in the auditorium. We encourage everyone to bring a folding chair, sleeping bag, or comfy blanket. This is a great opportunity to invite friends who might not otherwise be open to coming to church.
Advent is a season dedicated to the hopeful anticipation of the arrival of Jesus as Messiah. As we think about In the Waiting, pick up a pack of Advent Spiritual Rhythm cards for ways to practice the attributes of Advent and see how they were demonstrated in the Christmas story.
CORE is excited to celebrate Christmas with students on Wednesday, December 13, from 6:45 to 8:45 PM. We will have holiday treats and a white elephant gift exchange. Bring a small gift, $5 or less.
Our KidStep Christmas Choir will sing at the Christmas Eve service on Sunday, December 24, at 10:30 AM. Beginning in November, preschool and elementary children will learn the Christmas songs during their Sunday morning worship time. In addition, there will be a special stage rehearsal on December 17 from 11:45 AM to 12:30 PM in the sanctuary. Families should sign up to have their child sing during the Christmas Eve service at 10:30 AM.
There are opportunities for KidStep families to participate in Advent with kid-appropriate cards and journal pages. These will be handed out in KidStep on Sunday, November 19, and available in the main lobby on November 26. Pick up a set and incorporate these into your family rhythm this holiday.
